Skyrush

Because "The Hollow" section of the park was full of rides, Hersheypark had to get creative with ways of fitting a new roller coaster into the area.  Nearly the entire course takes place over Spring Creek, a naturally occurring body of water that feeds into nearby Swatara Creek, a tributary of the Susquehanna River.  Spring Creek is made wider in this section of the park due to a man-made dam located just below Skyrush's far turn-around located on the right side of this image.  Most of Skyrush's support columns are either next to the water or literally sitting in the water.

Building a roller coaster over a creek imposed both construction challenges and raised environmental concerns, but the park and the Derry Township zoning board made sure that the ride was built without any problems or lasting damage to the creek.
