Storm Runner

Trains are accelerated from a standstill up to 72 miles per hour in just two seconds!

Storm Runner has a multitude of brake fins that rise up after the train is launched.  These slow the train if it does not achieve the required velocity to crest "Top Hat" element.  A rollback is rare, but these fins pop up just in case one occurs.  This launch system and pop-up brakes are used on a number of Intamin launched coasters such as Top Thrill Dragster, Kingda Ka, Xcelerator, Speed Monster, and Superman Escape.
