The first Zippin Pippin was built in Memphis, Tennessee. Various sources have said that it was built in either 1912, 1917, or 1923 depending on what source you believe. But no matter what date it actually opened, it ran a long time until the park closed permanently in 2005.
Elvis Presley rode the Zippin Pippin in Memphis just one week before he passed away in August 1977.
