Gold Striker

A multitude of problems held up construction of this ride.  A contentious football stadium proposal initially caused parent company Cedar Fair to try to sell California's Great America.   Eventually an agreement was hammered out which allowed the new San Francisco 49ers stadium to be built on the amusement park's overflow parking lot.  After Cedar Fair changed their selling stance and agreed to remain long-term owner of the park, then noise issues had to be hammered out with nearby businesses.  Thousands of white Styrofoam panels were placed between the wooden ties in order to dampen the sounds emanating from the train.
