Grizzly

After a slow start, Grizzly picks up its pace as the ride progresses.  Usually, nearly all of the ride is hidden behind trees, but this picture was taken in March before the trees had leaves.  The coaster is 87 feet tall and 3,150 feet long.  It opened in 1982.

The coaster was designed by Curtis Summers, the coaster creator who later partnered with Charlie Dinn to form Dinn & Summers a few years after Grizzly was built.  This coaster, and the nearly identical Wild Beast at Canada's Wonderland, were built in-house by the Taft Broadcasting Company, owner of both parks.
