Intimidator 305

Because trains travel up the lift hill so rapidly, they crest the top with a fair amount of speed.  Add to that the 300-foot drop, and trains can reach speeds of around 90 miles per hour.

When Intimidator 305 opened, Kings Dominion claimed that it was the fastest gravity-driven roller coaster in North America.  At the time, it was the fifth tallest coaster on the continent.  Because the tallest three coasters, all of which were over 400 feet tall, were launched coasters, this claim was probably accurate.  (The fourth tallest coaster, Millennium Force, has a 300-foot drop, the same as Intimidator 305.)
