I was a little skeptical when I heard that Silver Dollar City was going to build a wooden looping coaster. The first modern woodie with a loop was Son of Beast at Kings Island, a roller coaster that was plagued with problems, lawsuits, and even an accident. Its loop only lasted a few years before it was removed. The entire ride operated for just eight years before being torn down.
So far, Outlaw Run seems to be operating extremely well. Having ridden both of these coasters, I can say that Outlaw Run is by far the superior ride. I loved it and rode it several times, yet I was only able to tolerate two rides on Son of Beast... one with the loop, one after the loop was removed.
