Corkscrew
A couple of looping roller coasters tried to operate from 1895 to about 1915, but
none were successful due to mechanical problems, safety issues, and high
forces approaching 15 g's. This roller coaster was built in 1975 and was the
first modern roller coaster with a loop. It opened at
Knott's Berry Farm
and moved to Idaho in 1990. The ride may not be much in comparison
to today's thrill machines, but its status as the first modern coaster to
take riders upside down makes it a must-ride for any coaster enthusiast.
