Wild One has a complex history. It has gone through more modifications, fires, and relocations than any other roller coaster that I can think of. Over the next few pages, I will try to highlight some of the multitude of changes it has gone through in its 100-year history.
The ride got its start at Paragon Park in Nantasket Beach, Massachusetts as the Giant Coaster. When it opened in 1917, it was the tallest coaster in the world, and it held that record until the infamous Revere Beach Cyclone opened in 1925. The ride originally was a side-friction coaster.
