Allan Herschell

Allan Herschell started the Armitage Herschell Company in 1873.  That company made many portable carousels during its 30-year existence.  He later started the Herschell Spillman Company, eventually called the Spillman Engineering Company, which made even more carousels.   Hershcell started yet another company in 1915, the organization named after himself.  Originally based in North Tonawanda, New York, and later in Buffalo, New York, the company later branched out into making small, portable rides and roller coasters.  In 1970, the company was acquired by Chance Manufacturing.
