Regina

In late 2019, Tobu Zoo announced that Regina would be closing.  The ride was listed for sale by a ride broker, so it looked like it would either be torn down or relocated elsewhere.  The coaster was Standing But Not Operating (SBNO) for a few years, but it was hard to tell if it was because it was for sale, or if it was just closed as a byproduct of the COVID-19 pandemic.

At the end of 2021, the Zoo made a surprise announcement that the coaster would reopen in 2023!  Skyline Attractions, an American company formed by some former employees of Great Coasters International in 2014, will oversee "a series of modifications and improvements" and "various other mechanical upgrades to the attraction."  I am very happy that Regina is getting a second lease on life.  It is a big presence at the park, and a rather uncommon ride due to who designed and built it, so I am glad that it is not headed for the scrap heap!
