Rolling Thunder

In 1999, I walked the entire length of Rolling Thunder during a behind-the-scenes tour of the ride.  Since each side of the coaster was about 3,200 feet long, it took quite a while to get to the back portion of the ride.  The ride had an out-and-back layout.  The "out" portion started here as seen by the red train making the first drop.  The "back" return portion of the ride crossed over the first drop at an obtuse angle and the last few hills can be seen on the right.

El Toro currently sits in this location.  Keep going through these pictures and you will see that a tiny portion of Rolling Thunder's first drop still remains here.

It is amazing to think that all three of these coasters seen here have been torn down since I took this picture.  But since I never was a big fan of those three rides, I am not too upset by the changes to this area of the amusement park.
