Runaway Mine Train

This mine train coaster is 69 feet high and 2,444 feet long.  It has only one lift hill.  The greatest drop is just a little over 30 feet, so it is a very mild ride.  This view shows the last few feet of track before the train returns to the station.  The Log Flume seen in the distance also opened when the park debuted in 1974.  At the time, it was the longest log flume ride in the world.

When Warner LeRoy planned out the Great Adventure park in 1972, it was going to be comprised of seven parks.  Included in his design were a wide variety of dark rides, a sports complex, a shopping district, a group of hotels, and much more.  The first two parks opened in 1974.  The rides were in the Enchanted Forest park, and the Safari Park housed a variety of animals.  The amusement park and animal park are still open today, but the other parks never materialized.
