Over a mile of cables are used on Zumanjaro.  The electrically-operated drum that moves the winch and cables is located at ground level.  The cables run from the ground, up to a massive pulley system at the top of the tower, and down to the three ride vehicles.  All three cars are normally lifted at one time.

The cables running from the motor up to the top of the tower are visible just to the right of the orange ride track and the grey elevator track seen in the middle of the structure.

How does the Zumanjaro drop ride work?
