Racer 75

In a publicity move to hype the "Rollercoaster" movie, three competitors established a Guinness World Record by riding Rebel Yell for 101 hours.  During this marathon, some fans discussed the potential of a national club for roller coaster fans.  This led to the formation of the American Coaster Enthusiasts (ACE) in June 1978.

Because the old Rebel Yell name was a reference to the "Rebel Yell" battle cry used by Confederate soldiers during the Civil War, the park recently decided that it was time to change names.  The new name references the year the coaster was built as well as the fact that two trains can race at one time.  The park also said that the "rACEr" name is a nod to the American Coaster Enthusiasts which got its start after a roller-coaster-riding event on this coaster.
