Incredicoaster

Instead of the lift chains common on almost every roller coaster, this ride uses Linear Induction Motors (LIMs) to quickly launch the trains up the first hill, the covered track seen here.  LIMs are also used on a lift hill that occurs halfway through the ride, the track seen in the background.   The LIMs provide a very quick but silent means of lifting the trains up these two hills.  The electricity required to power the LIMs is one reason there is over 36 miles of electrical wire and almost 170 miles of conductors on this roller coaster!  In this image, you can see loops of cables under the track as well as dozens of white metal conduits used to protect and route the electrical wiring up to the LIMs.
