Do-Dodonpa

S&S Sports built Dodonpa, but that company has gone through a variety of names since its founding in 1994.  The company was started in Utah by Stan Checketts and his wife Sandy, and they named the new ride manufacturing company after the first letters of their names.  The company started by producing air-powered amusement rides, but later expanded into designing and constructing coasters.  As time went by, the company's name changed to S&S Sports Power, Inc., S&S Power, and S&S Worldwide, Inc.  The company acquired the assets of bankrupt Arrow Dynamics in 2002.  S&S was purchased by the Japanese Sansei Technologies, Inc. in 2014, and is currently called S&S - Sansei Technologies.  In 2018, Sansei acquired the Dutch Vekoma ride manufacturer, so it is possible that we may see a blending of the two roller coaster divisions in the future.
