Do-Dodonpa

What is the world's tallest roller coaster loop?  Unfortunately, there is a little debate as to what ride holds the record of the tallest loop in the world.  Even with the controversy, I can say that Do-Dodonpa's loop is either the tallest or one of the four tallest loops.  It depends a little on how you measure the inversion.  If you believe the Guinness World Records, the largest loops are 42.5 meters (139.5 feet) on Flash at Lewa Adventure in China and Hyper Coaster at Land of Legends Theme Park in Turkey.  Surprisingly, some websites claim those loops are 160 feet high.  However, Six Flags Magic Mountain claims that the loop on Full Throttle is 160 feet tall (48.8 meters) and is the world's tallest.  However, the point of measurement is up for debate as the ground level changes around the ride.  The 160-foot figure is the height above ground level somewhere around the ride.  The actual diameter of Full Throttle's loop is 127 feet (38.7 meters).

The loop seen here was added to the coaster nearly four years after Full Throttle premiered.  A variety of sources has listed the new loop as 49 meters (161 feet) tall.  If this is accurate, then Guinness World Records seems way out of date.  I guess the most important thing to remember is that this loop is humongous!  It is either the tallest or almost the tallest.  It is huge no matter how it is measured!
