Viper

The last inversion required the red circle supports, but other sections of the ride had them just for looks.

Before creating this ride, TOGO built several "Ultra Twister" coasters such as the Ultra Twister shuttle coaster at Six Flags AstroWorld.  I photographed that coaster when it was in Texas, and it operated at AstroWorld from 1990 to 2005.  Before it was in that final location, it actually operated here at Six Flags Great Adventure from 1986 to 1988.  Apparently the park and TOGO thought the "Ultra Twister" model was successful enough to design and build a follow-up ride that still did a similar heartline roll but didn't reverse direction like Ultra Twister.  This new design had 16-passenger trains whereas the "Ultra Twister" vehicles only had room for six riders.  Viper was a prototype design, but was the only coaster of its type that was ever built.
