Do-Dodonpa

The Company that built Dodonpa is currently called S&S – Sansei Technologies, but it has been known as S&S Worldwide, S&S Power, and S&S Sports since it began in 1994.  For simplicity sake, I will just call it S&S for a little while.

As of 2021, S&S has built 41 coasters, nine of which use compressed air to launch trains.  Here is a list of their Compressed Air Launch coasters:

  1. 1999 - Powder Keg: A Blast in the Wilderness at Silver Dollar City - From 1999 to 2003, it was a water coaster called BuzzSaw Falls. It was modified by S&S when they removed the water portion and added a lot of track and a air-powered launch.
  2. 2001 - Hypersonic XLC at Kings Dominion - This was the original "Thrust Air Coaster" but it was demolished in 2007.
  3. 2001 - Do-Dodonpa at Fuji-Q Highland - The coaster seen here.  A massive loop was added in 2017.
  4. 2011 - Extreme Rusher at Happy Valley Chaoyang in China
  5. 2012 - Bullet Coaster at Happy Valley Nanshan in China
  6. 2013 - Ring Racer at Nürburgring in Germany - The coaster operated for less than a week and has been Standing But Not Operating for nearly 20 years.
  7. 2014 - OCT Thrust SSC1000 at Happy Valley Hongshan in China
  8. 2019 - Maxx Force at Six Flags Great America
  9. 2020 - Launch Roller Coaster at Sun Tzu Cultural Park in China
